Run for Something endorses Eddie Flores for
South San Francisco Unified School District Board of Trustees
Progressive wave builds momentum with new candidates in California
Oct. 22, 2018 - Eddie Flores is proud to receive the endorsement of Run for Something (RFS), the groundbreaking organization that recruits and supports strong voices in the next generation of progressive leadership.
“It's an honor to receive an endorsement from an organization like Run for Something. To have the support of other progressives means so much and I look forward to representing their values and beliefs. I will work hard to ensure our teachers and students are well represented in South San Francisco and I’m grateful for the backing of organizations like Run for Something.”
“RFS endorses candidates on two major criteria: heart and hustle. That’s what defines viability to us,” said Ross Morales Rocketto, RFS co founder. “These are candidates who are going to work hard to run grassroots, community-led campaigns. We are a critical time in history and the momentum these candidates generate will have a lasting impact for years to come.”
By the numbers:
RFS has endorsed 646 candidates total, from 48 states
Campaign budgets range from $3000 to $300,000
49.3% of our endorsed candidates are women
40.2% are people of color
The endorsement process includes an extensive internal review with a background check, staff interview, and insight from local state experts.
Amanda Litman and Ross Morales Rocketto launched RFS on Jan. 20, 2017 with a simple premise: help young diverse progressives to run for down-ballot races in order to build a bench for the future. RFS aims to lower the barriers to entry for these candidates by helping them with seed money, organization building, and access to trainings needed to be successful. So far, about 20,000 young people from across the country have signed up as candidates and gained access to RFS resources.
Run for Something recruits and supports talented, passionate young people who advocate for progressive values now and for the next 30 years, with the ultimate goal of building a progressive bench.

EDDIE FLORES EARNS THE ENDORSEMENT OF
RUN FOR SOMETHING
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of Run for Something (RFS) and be one of three candidates running for office from California, in their recent round of endorsements. A national organization, RFS was founded in 2017 and recruits and supports young, diverse progressives for down-ballot races to build a bench for the future . They aim to lower the barriers to entry for these candidates by helping them with seed money, organization building, and access to trainings.
RFS selected its endorses the same way voters do--by supporting candidates with heart and hustle. When you are passionate about your community and put in the work, voters can tell. That’s why so many of RFS candidates win. For those who don’t win, they are still making progress. The endorsement process includes an extensive internal review with background check, staff interview and insight from local state experts.
To have the support of other progressives means so much and I look forward to representing their values and beliefs. I will work hard to ensure our teachers and students are well represented in South San Francisco. Being recognized as an RFS candidate shows I have great momentum and am running a solid, community-led campaign. My heart is in South San Francisco and together with your votes, I hope to become your next school board member."
