Hello friends and neighbors,

I’m Eddie Flores, your current South San Francisco councilmember. I was appointed to this role in 2021, and elected by a supportive majority of residents to represent District 5 in South San Francisco in November 2022.  

 

As a teacher and mental health advocate, I have served this wonderful community I have called home for over 30 years. I have served as a Parks and Recreation Commissioner, SSFUSD School Board President and in the past 2 years as your councilmember. In this time, I’ve been fortunate to learn, live, and work with families all throughout our city for equity, social justice, a better quality of life, and additional educational opportunities.

 

South San Francisco has a unique and wonderful cultural ecosystem, and I have worked to celebrate our diversity and ensure that all residents, including immigrants like myself, are represented and supported in our city. I have and will continue to work hard to bring much needed support to our Old Town comunidad. 

 

We have all endured much during this global pandemic. Despite those hardships, our city has proven its resilience. I have worked hard to support our local workers and residents who have suffered—passing hazard pay for our grocery store and retail workers, providing gift cards for local residents to support our local small businesses, and supporting a guaranteed basic income program to meet the basic needs of our residents. 

 

I am dedicated to continuing my role as a city councilmember and strong advocate for the residents of District 5, our Old Town/downtown community, and our entire city of South San Francisco. Together we can develop solutions to tackle the various issues we face today, preserve and improve South City’s quality of life, and ensure that we all have a place to call home.
